Father,
As I look around my family, my community, our state, our nation…the entire world…my heart grieves at the complacency of the church when surrounded by so many in the world who are lost or suffering. Lord, there is so much to do; it can seem overwhelming.
As I look around my family, my community, our state, our nation…the entire world…my heart grieves at the complacency of the church when surrounded by so many in the world who are lost or suffering. Lord, there is so much to do; it can seem overwhelming.
But You O God, You overwhelm Your church by Your love, Your grace, and Your mercy. You ignite the hearts of Your people, stirring us up with a holy boldness we’ve never known before to reach out to others in ways we never thought possible. You are awakening those who are slumbering in the church, opening eyes, and refreshing spirits and bodies with a revitalizing splash of pure water. (Heb. 10:22) You restore Your people to the joy of Your salvation they once knew, but grew unfruitful when the rocky soils of life robbed them of the life giving moisture of Your Word. (Ps. 51:12, Luke 8:6) “Sanctify us by Your truth; Your Word is truth.” (John 17:17)
Here I am Lord. Send me! (Is. 6:8)
Here we are Lord. Send us! (Matt. 4:19)
We receive our marching orders through Your Word, and will go out to love, to serve, or do battle. (Matt. 28:19, Eph. 6:12) We patiently await the leadership of Your Spirit, Father, seeking Your face that we may forever walk in the light of Your countenance. (Ps. 89:15) We faithfully and eagerly prepare our hearts and minds to receive the Word from You. (Heb. 12:2)
Your Word tells us “the generous man will be prosperous, and he who waters will himself be watered.” (Prov. 11:25)
Thank you Lord that because we “delight ourselves in Your Word, meditating on it day and night, we will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither and whatever we do will prosper”. (Ps. 1:2-3)
For there is yet much to do…
In Jesus’ name, amen.
