Love Song of Deception

(Dream in October 2010)

God can use dreams to speak to us in many ways: comfort, direction, prophesy, edification, exhortation, warnings, etc. In time, we begin to learn how to discern what is from God and what is not. God loves us to seek out His truths, but He also loves to reveal things to His people for our benefit as well.

On this night, I received a stark warning that bothered me at first, because I felt I knew exactly of its meaning and the purpose for the dream. I learned a valuable lesson in listening to my first instinct, which I know was the Spirit of God, rather than trusting the voice of “reason” that lays in the back of our minds waiting for an opportunity to strike.

Jesus in Blue Jeans

(Dream in July 1992)

While some of our dreams are just a hodgepodge of random things in our lives, others are more personally ministering. The Lord knows what we need, and when we need it. He also knows best how to get our attention, and often, the mind is on overload throughout the day. For me, He knows of my vulnerable state in the nights and occasionally uses that particular state to minister to me in the most comforting and encouraging ways.

This dream came very early in my faith journey, and was in fact one of the first following my “deliverance” dream. God was slowly awakening my slumbering spirit, stirring me toward a deeper relationship with Him. Unsure of myself, I began wondering just how one has a "relationship" with God. God wanted me to understand that it is not a complicated issue, but does require sacrifice of many of the people, places or things of which we once approved and indulged.

From Darkness to Light

(Dream in November 1988)

This dream is found in My Testimony, but here I give a little more detail surrounding the circumstances, setting the stage for the most powerful dream I’ve ever had. Among all the dreams God has given me, this one by far stands out from the rest. I think you will see why.

I shared a story with someone just recently about this period in my life from what I consider to be of my darkest days, yet also consider as the most precious days of my life because they led me to Christ. I had been in a period of rebellion, and though I had grown up in the church, I had only the “head knowledge” of God and lacked any real relationship. I even sensed His constant presence, even in times of rebellion, but I only wanted Him on my terms, not His.

Unhappy, unfulfilled, and discontent with my life, I sought out the things of this world to bring me peace, satisfaction, and happiness. Alas, they did—for a short time anyway—only a short time. Then came the day when everything changed, and the light in my soul burned out.

Vision of the Branch

The year would have been around 1967. I was a small child, (around the age of 8), but God began to awaken my spirit, causing me to be attentive to Him and to love Him so very dearly. I did not understand it, but He allowed this tender closeness with Him that I have held so dearly to my heart my entire life, remembering it even in my days of rebellion. It was at that time that He also told me He would one day use me for "greater things". I somehow knew and fully trusted in what He said, but also knew that at age 8, I could not possibly understand, but that I would understand one day. How my mind at that age would understand that could only be explained by Divine inspiration.

No Weapon Shall Prosper

(Dream in September 2009)

Typically, dreams are in a familiar place known to us. This dream was not. I was in an unfamiliar place with a few I recognized, but others I did not. Suddenly, an individual I thought I knew, but from whom I felt an immediate threat approached me, attempting to do me harm. He threw many blows and assaults, but they all stopped short of hitting me. Nothing lodged against me could harm me. It was as if an invisible shield surrounded me. (Eph. 6:11)

My attacker was baffled, as I was at first, until I remembered the shield of faith and God’s protection against spiritual assaults. "No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; and every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their vindication is from Me," declares the LORD” (Isaiah 54:17).

The High Place

There are some dreams where I feel a deeper spiritual significance or particular message. Some minister to me personally, while others I sense are meant for a broader range of people. Many dreams are forgotten, but I’ve noticed those I felt God wanted me to retain, I’ve not forgotten and are as clear as the night I dreamed them. This dream, I believe, was not only a personal exhortation, but also for those within my personal sphere of influence.

Sept. 27, 2007 -- “I found myself walking on a soft dirt road similar to those known to many living in rural Oklahoma. Though I walked in a nonchalant stride, I recognized the intense importance of the journey. The road began where I stood, stretching as far as I could see to the east, yet did not lead back toward the west, which consisted only of a large field and horizon. As I walked eastward, my attention diverted suddenly to a disturbance behind me. I turned around to find the most violent of storms on the western horizon, rapidly approaching. Leading the storm was a large black tornado, surrounded by four smaller and paler tornadoes, each equally violent.

Restorers of the Street

While gathered recently in a circle of prayer with fellow believers twenty or more years younger than myself, I felt the Lord give me a vision of how He is using this generation today. I saw a street littered with refuse and debris, as well as a broom sweeping up the streets—nothing wasted or thrown away. I saw the broom as the way in which God is using this generation and the refuse as the litter of not only their own generation, but their parent’s generation as well. .

The following is my understanding of what I felt I received that particular evening:
